The best way to connect your TV to your sound bar is using an HDMI cable because they’re able to carry large amounts of uncompressed digital audio data. Let us understand the other alternative methods to connect the sound bar to TV without HDMI.
Connect With the help of optical cable connection:
If your soundbar has no ARC input, then you need to connect it via optical cable.
Step 1: Connect the cable TV Boxes, and other media components to your TV using an optical cable.
Step 2: pass the audio signals from your TV to your sound bar using the optical output.
The advantage of using an optical cable connection is its easiness. You’ll need only one cable to hook up a soundbar to a TV. Once it’s fixed you can try to change the channels on your TV and the soundbar plays the sound of what you’re watching.
Connect Using Digital optical or digital coaxial:
If your sound bar doesn’t have an HDMI connector, you can go for a digital optical or digital coaxial cable. These cables are capable of transferring digital audio.
If you are confused with the cables, see that the optical cable has a square connector, and the coaxial cable has a circular connector. Optical cables work a little different in that way they convert the electrical signal to optical light and send it down to the cable, then convert it back to an electrical signal at the other end. You will experience a very less electrical interference by using optical cables. This is the reason why most people prefer optical cables.
But in reality, they’re both capable of sending a high-quality digital signal. Before you go out to buy cables, it’s worth checking the back of your TV, most TVs have an optical connector, but not all TVs support digital coaxial.
Connect your Soundbar to your TV using the headphone jack:
If none of the above connection options is available, you can connect your Soundbar to your TV using the headphone jack.
Make sure you have this option. If your TV doesn’t have this option, you’ll need to adjust your volume settings until you’re happy with the sound. All you have to do is to set the volume to higher initially and don’t forget to turn it back down before you unplug the Soundbar. These are the ways to connect a soundbar to TV set without HDMI.
